The problem
Most site failures are not the valve. They are the actuator.
A butterfly valve that is stroked four times a day for ten years is a solved problem. The actuator driving it is not. Torque margin, duty cycle, and whether the unit closes on power failure are decided on the datasheet, long before the valve ships.
We size the actuator against the valve's breakaway torque at the stated differential pressure — not against the nominal torque printed on the motor. If a line runs on a 15-second cycle, we say the standard unit will not last instead of selling it to you.
Bodies held without actuators, so the operator can be matched to the duty on the day the order is confirmed rather than the day the casting was made.
